CQ WPX Contest SSB 2012
Work all prefixes sounds easier than it is! but its great fun even if you just like to dip in and out for an hour or two over the weekend. No zones just a simple serial number exchange and plenty of stations out there to to give a few points away. Seriously though WPX is one of the big one's and its a real chance to give your DXCC count a shot in the arm, lots of exotic activations for 48 hours in your very own shack, doesn't get much better than that and if you fancy being compeditive there are plenty of categories to enter - something to suit all. Due to new work commitments my days of serious contesting over....well for the moment anyway! but I still make a point of getting into the shack to keep the hand in, have some fun and maybe even work a few rare ones. So I got on air for a few hours Sunday evening and as usual the bands were hopping it was difficult to get a slot. I brought my small camera and made two videos to give an idea of the what I can hear or sometimes "not hear" at my qth. The antenna used is the steppIR looking 280 deg. at 90 ft.

ARRL DX Phone Contest 2012
This is one of my favourite Contests. When your located in Europe its as if ALL of NA is on the air! The level of participation is very high, everyone is courteous and friendly- its fun!
If you are considered DX (entering from outside NA) its quite a simple process, all you need is one or more antennas looking in the one direction and it is a relatively short DX hop to NA.
This year I had work commitments and was only able to operate for a few hours Sunday afternoon and evening. 15m was in excellent shape during daylight hours, 20m came into its own 2 hours after darkness as was 40m later that evening. I worked two bands 15 and 20m, about 600 Q's and recorded a few video clips on my digital camera to give an idea of the band conditions at my qth.
Thanks to all that answered my call, hope to see you there next year.
